The design of these downpipes caters to the dynamics that take place just after the turbine. By separating the exhaust flow of the turbine from the flow of gases exiting the wastegate, less interference is experienced by the system. This means that more energy is put into spooling up the turbo rather than heating up the exhaust piping after it. These downpipes dramatically increase spool up and show increases in power output as well!
